Good, easy replacement for Xfinity rental This is a direct replacement for the Xfinity internet and voice gateway that many people pay $10/month or more to use. It is the same general shape and size, has the same ports on the back, and generally seems to work the same, and after about a year or so it is cheaper to buy than rent. Note that this model does include a phone line, while other replacement modem/router combos do not, so if you have Xfinity voice, you need this model.Setup required calling Xfinity support to add to the account, but after a few minutes telling the support agent the MAC and serial numbers, it activated without any further issues. The wifi feels faster than the gateway it replaced, but that’s not confirmed with an actual speed test comparison. Still, it is noticeably faster connecting to smart TVs for streaming.
Great price and performance For the price, this is an absolute win. Installation on Xfinity was painless… just plug it in, wait 10 minutes for the device initialize fully, and connect to the wireless network with the provided credentials on the side of th modem. Once you try to navigate to any web page, you’ll be redirected to the Xfinity modem registration page. In literally 5 minutes, the device was registered on Xfinity, and the WiFi networks were set up to my liking. The only thing left was to change the admin password. Literally a 15 minute setup without needing to call Comcast once. Painless. And as a refurb, this is about half the price of a new one, and it’s still under warranty. No brainier I you have VOIP phone through your cable provider.
Easy setup and great operation With the Comcast modem/router I had, I could no longer control certain options on my router, like the channels I wanted, etc. I purchased this router from this seller and I’m very pleased. It was easy to set up and did not require contacting Comcast to coordinate. It worked right away, including the phone function which I need for my home phone. I actually saw a noticeable increase in download speed. Not only does it work really well but I won’t be paying Comcast $168 a year to rent their router.
