Serves its purpose, but could be better for the money I bought this to replace an Apple Airport Extreme (the 5th generation version, released in 2011, that looks like a Mac Mini). That one little unit served my whole house reliably with WiFi for years, but as I upgraded my multimedia gear and services, I wanted something faster. Unfortunately, Apple has stopped making routers. The idea of a modem and router in a single unit appealed to me (less clutter). So did the idea of an extensible mesh system. As it turns out, the Orbi doesn’t really operate as a mesh. The satellites only talk to the main router, not to each other. This distinction might matter to some people. If you add more than one satellite, they are sharing the fast “backhaul” communications with the main unit. But depending on your needs, you may want to start with just the one router and see if it covers the house (before adding satellites).Provided you get a good working unit (one with no firmware issues, as in the satellite I’ve added), it is easy…

Buyer Beware This is not a product worth the money. I purchased in Aug 2018 and the modem stopped working Jan 2019. Tech support is only for 90 DAYS. The number I found on their site is some type of scam. It’s a 3rd party that requires customers to pay $99 in order to help troubleshoot. I had to find the option that allowed me to request warranty replacement in order to get Netgear tech support on the phone. Of course, they could not get the modem to work and had to replace the product. Customers are on the hook to pay shipping. It astounds me that I would pay $300 for a product only to have Netgear support problems for 90 DAYS. I thought this would be a great product and space saver. It is not. Be careful if you decide to buy.
